Sura Design Hotel

We set out to provide long-lasting and aesthetic waterproofing solutions worthy of the grandeur of Sura Design Hotel in the heart of Istanbul. In this massive 8000 m² project, we joined forces with Tecnopol, a specialist firm from Barcelona. Our aim was to create a comfortable and safe atmosphere by protecting every corner of the hotel, from its terraces to its balconies, from the corrosive effects of water. The most important stage of the project was the removal of the existing old insulation materials. This was a very laborious and time-consuming process, but it was inevitable for a perfect substrate preparation. The secret lay in choosing the right material and meticulous application. First, we smoothed the concrete floor with a diamond-tipped grinding machine. This process ensured that the surface adhered to the new insulation materials in the best possible way. Then, we strengthened the surface by applying epoxy primer and made it ideal for the next stage. We applied a 2 mm thick pure polyurea coating, which is the heart of waterproofing. Thanks to its high elasticity and durability, pure polyurea not only created a waterproof barrier, but also minimized the risk of cracking by adapting to the movements of the floor. One of the biggest factors in choosing this material was its fast curing property. In this way, we were able to optimize the project's timeline. Finally, we applied aliphatic paint, which offers both aesthetics and protection. Aliphatic paint provides excellent resistance to UV rays, preventing the coating from fading and preserving its original appearance for many years. In addition, it protects the surface against scratches and abrasion, reducing maintenance costs. At the end of the project, the terraces and balconies of Sura Design Hotel met with long-lasting waterproofing solutions that combine aesthetics and functionality. The comfort of the guests and the value of the hotel were increased. This project is a good example of how international cooperation and expertise can achieve success in challenging projects.
