We are proud to be a part of the Mesa project, which dazzles with its modern architecture on the Island of Freedom and Democracy. Our goal was to create a long-lasting and reliable waterproofing system that would defy the harsh marine climate of the island. In particular, our top priority was to create an effective barrier against water on the roof of the sports complex and other terrace areas, ensuring that the structure remains healthy and safe for many years. In this regard, we acted with meticulousness in the selection of materials. First, we used epoxy primer to prepare the concrete surface. Epoxy primer penetrates the pores of the concrete, strengthening the surface and allowing subsequent layers to adhere better. After the primer application, we proceeded to the application of 2 mm thick pure polyurea, which will provide superior protection against water. Pure polyurea, thanks to its flexible structure, exhibits high resistance to expansion and contraction, preventing cracking. In addition, its fast curing property shortens the application time and reduces labor costs. Considering the inclined structure of the sports complex's roof, the rapid curing of polyurea provided a great advantage for us. The application process was like a journey to create a work of art. As a first step, we meticulously cleaned the concrete surface with a diamond-tipped grinding machine. This process removed dirt, oil, and other residues from the surface, allowing the epoxy primer to adhere better. When we examined the condition of the surface, we detected irregularities in some areas. To repair these areas, we prepared a special repair mortar consisting of a mixture of epoxy and silica sand. This mortar increased the strength of the concrete while smoothing the surface. After the repair work, we carried out the epoxy primer application. With the epoxy primer drying, we moved on to the most critical stage of the pure polyurea application. We sprayed the polyurea onto the surface homogeneously with special equipment. During the application, we made sure that the material thickness was 2 mm at every point. After the polyurea cured, we applied aliphatic paint as the final coat. Aliphatic paint exhibits high resistance to UV rays and preserves the color of the polyurea for many years. It also makes the surface easier to clean and provides an aesthetic appearance. As a result of the project, we have provided excellent protection against water. Thanks to the quality of the materials we used and the techniques we applied, the structure can be used safely for many years. Our success in the Mesa project has once again proven our expertise in the field of waterproofing.
