We set out to find a permanent solution to the water leakage problem experienced in Kiptaş's eight-block settlement. Our aim was not only to repair the existing damage but also to extend the life of the buildings by preventing possible future water problems. In addition to the terraces, we also provided insulation for the ornamental pools. The importance of the project was to protect the structural integrity of the buildings and increase the quality of life of the residents. For this reason, we took care to choose the most durable and long-lasting materials. When starting the application process, we first carried out a detailed examination in an area of 4800 m². We started the repair work by identifying broken and damaged ceramics. Then, we prepared the surface with diamond-tipped light grinding machines to remove the shine on the surface and to ensure better adhesion of the epoxy primer. This step prepared the ground for the subsequent stages by ensuring that the surface was clean and smooth. First, we applied the epoxy primer. Epoxy primer is a critical layer that strengthens the surface, allowing the polyurea to adhere better and creating a waterproof barrier. After the epoxy primer application, it was the turn of the 2mm thick pure polyurea application, which forms the backbone of the project. Pure polyurea was an ideal solution thanks to its high elasticity, durability and waterproofing properties. The rapid curing property of polyurea helped to complete the project on time. However, working in 23-story buildings brought challenges such as transporting the machinery park upstairs and setting it up. We had to take the polyurea machine to the 22nd floor and set it up for each block. This was one of the biggest challenges our project team faced. Finally, aliphatic paint was applied to increase resistance to UV rays and achieve an aesthetic appearance. Aliphatic paint improved the appearance of the roof and elevator towers by preserving the color of the surface for a long time. At the end of the project, the water leakage problem in the blocks of Kiptaş was permanently solved. The roof and elevator towers of the buildings were made resistant to water and weather conditions. The success of the project was made possible by the right material selection, meticulous application and the dedicated work of our experienced team. The satisfaction of the residents was the greatest reward of this project.
