The roof of the İSTON factory's security booth had been showing signs of wear and tear due to long-term exposure to the elements. Cracks and water leaks in the roof were negatively affecting working conditions inside the booth and shortening the lifespan of the structure. Therefore, the İSTON management decided to initiate a water and thermal insulation project to find a lasting solution. Our aim was to protect the booth against all weather conditions, creating a more comfortable environment for employees and increasing the structure's durability. As a first step, the existing concrete surface of the roof was meticulously ground with a diamond-tipped hand grinder. This process cleaned the old coatings and dirt from the surface, allowing the newly applied materials to adhere better to the concrete. After the surface preparation was completed, an epoxy primer was applied to the surface. The epoxy primer is a critical layer that fills the pores on the concrete surface, ensuring a more homogeneous and durable polyurea coating. Following the primer application, the most important phase of the project, the application of a 2mm thick pure polyurea coating, was carried out. Polyurea is a fast-curing material with excellent waterproofing and UV resistance properties, as well as high elasticity. Thanks to these properties, it will protect the roof against all weather conditions and maintain its durability for many years. The polyurea coating was applied by spraying with special equipment. This method ensures that the material is evenly distributed over the surface and creates a seamless insulation layer. Finally, a 6cm thick spray polyurethane foam was applied to the inside of the roof to balance the internal temperature and increase energy efficiency. Thanks to its excellent thermal insulation properties, the spray polyurethane foam provided a cool environment in summer and a warm environment in winter, contributing to energy saving. In addition, the foam application increased the roof's strength, making it more durable. As a result of the project, the roof of the İSTON factory's security booth has been completely renovated and made long-lasting thanks to water and thermal insulation. A more comfortable environment has been created for the employees, and the value of the structure has been increased.
