This significant waterproofing project carried out within the Istanbul Water and Sewerage Administration (ISKI) plays a critical role in the sustainability of our city's water resources and the protection of its infrastructure. The project's primary goal is to prevent water leakages in the sedimentation tanks and sludge storage pools of solid waste treatment facilities, thereby minimizing water loss and preventing environmental damage. Implemented over an area of approximately 2000 square meters, this project was realized through meticulous planning and the coordinated efforts of a specialized team. At the heart of the project is a polyurethane injection material with superior insulation properties. The main factor in selecting this material is its high elasticity, which allows it to adapt to possible movements in the structure and provide a long-lasting solution with its waterproof structure. Additionally, the chemical resistance of polyurethane injection ensures that it resists various chemicals found in treatment plants, maintaining the effectiveness of the insulation. A total of 2000 kg of polyurethane injection material was used to ensure flawless insulation in all application areas. The application process began with a detailed examination and cleaning of the existing surfaces. Subsequently, injection holes were drilled at designated points, and the polyurethane injection material was injected into these holes under high pressure. This ensured that cracks and voids in the concrete were completely filled, preventing water passage. After the injection process was completed, the surfaces were leveled, and additional insulation applications were performed where necessary. At every stage of the process, our expert teams continuously monitored the effectiveness of the insulation by conducting quality control tests. With the completion of the project, water leakages in sedimentation tanks and sludge storage pools have been completely eliminated. This has prevented water loss and extended the lifespan of the facilities. Furthermore, environmental impacts have been minimized, making a significant contribution to the protection of our city's water resources. This waterproofing project carried out within ISKI is not only a technical achievement but also a demonstration of our environmental responsibility. This project serves as an example for future similar projects.
