We are at Cevahir Shopping Mall, the pulse of the city in the heart of Istanbul. One of the biggest problems here, water leakage, was negatively affecting the comfort of visitors and the reputation of the shopping mall. At this point, we stepped in, aiming to provide a permanent and aesthetic solution to this problem. The aim of our project was to completely eliminate water leakage in wet areas and make these areas safe to use for many years. Our application process started with a detailed preliminary inspection. The condition of the existing ceramic surface and the detection of broken and damaged areas were of great importance. During the surface preparation phase, we used a diamond-tipped light grinding machine to remove the gloss on the ceramic and ensure better adhesion of the new coating. This process roughened the surface, making it easier for the epoxy primer to adhere. Then, the broken and damaged ceramics we identified were carefully repaired. After the surface preparation was completed, we applied the epoxy primer as the first layer. The epoxy primer strengthened the surface, ensuring that the subsequent layers were on a more solid base. After the primer dried, we moved on to the most critical stage of the project: the application of 2mm thick pure polyurea. Polyurea was an ideal choice for this project due to its excellent waterproofing properties, high elasticity, and fast curing time. Finally, we applied aliphatic paint to give the surface an aesthetic appearance and provide protection against UV rays. Aliphatic paint was preferred because of its high color resistance and resistance to scratches. Thanks to our project, the wet areas of Cevahir Shopping Mall are now completely free of water leakage problems. Visitors enjoy shopping in a comfortable and safe environment, while the shopping mall management has prevented possible damage and renovation costs. The quality of the materials we use and our meticulousness in the application process guarantee the longevity of the project. This project has once again proven how assertive we are in waterproofing.
