We rolled up our sleeves to solve invisible but vital water leakage problems. This problem, which occurs over time in the wet areas of the shopping mall, especially due to heavy use and the effects of humidity, threatened the durability of the structure and negatively affected visitor comfort. Our goal was to fundamentally solve this problem of Capitol Shopping Mall, providing a long-lasting and safe solution. Accordingly, we first identified the source and extent of the problem by conducting a detailed inspection. Cracks and joint gaps under the existing ceramic coating were causing water to leak. A renovation using classical methods would take a long time and seriously disrupt the shopping mall's operations. For this reason, we preferred the polyurea coating system, which is a fast, effective, and long-lasting solution. Our application process was meticulously planned. The first step was to prepare the existing ceramic surface. We sanded the surface with a diamond-tipped light grinding machine to remove the gloss on the ceramic and to ensure better adhesion of the polyurea. Broken or damaged ceramics were carefully repaired. Then, we cleaned the surface and applied an epoxy primer. Epoxy primer is a two-component, high-performance adhesive that allows polyurea to adhere perfectly to the surface. After the epoxy primer dried, it was the turn of our main hero: 2 mm thick pure polyurea. Polyurea is a spray-applied, incredibly fast-curing, and flexible coating material. Thanks to its impermeability, chemical resistance, and UV resistance, it is an ideal solution for wet areas. We sprayed polyurea onto the surface with our special equipment, obtaining a complete and flawless coating. Finally, we applied aliphatic paint to complete the aesthetic appearance and extend the life of the polyurea. Aliphatic paint is a topcoat paint that is highly resistant to UV rays, prevents color fading, and maintains its original appearance for many years. As a result of the project, we completely eliminated the water leakage problem in the wet areas of Capitol Shopping Mall. Visitors can now shop in a more comfortable environment, while the shopping mall management has secured the durability of the building. Thanks to fast application, a long-lasting solution, and minimal operational disruption, we are confident that we made the right decision for Capitol Shopping Mall.
