The water leakage problem in Bahcesehir University's 1000 m² area had become a major source of discomfort for students and staff. Permanently resolving the issue was vital for preserving the building's structural integrity and maintaining the university's prestige. Therefore, it was decided to implement the most effective and long-lasting solutions for waterproofing. The main goal of the project was to completely eliminate the existing water leakage and prevent similar problems from occurring in the future. To this end, the repair of broken and damaged ceramics on the surface was started. Then, the ground preparation phase was initiated. Concrete and ceramic surfaces were roughened using a diamond-tipped light grinding machine. This process would allow the applied materials to adhere better to the ground. After completing the ground preparation, epoxy primer was applied as the first layer. Epoxy primer is a material with excellent adhesion properties that fills the pores of the surface, allowing subsequent layers to adhere better. Then, the application of 2 mm thick pure polyurea, the heart of the waterproofing, was initiated. Pure polyurea is a superior insulation material that can withstand even the most challenging conditions thanks to its high elasticity, fast curing property, and excellent impermeability. The application was carried out using special equipment with a spray method, thus obtaining a continuous, homogeneous coating on the surface. Finally, aliphatic paint was applied to increase the UV resistance of the polyurea coating and provide an aesthetic appearance. Aliphatic paint is a color-fading resistant, long-lasting, and environmentally friendly option. With the completion of all these steps, the water leakage problem at Bahcesehir University was permanently resolved. The project was completed with great success thanks to the quality of the materials used, the accuracy of the application techniques, and the harmony of teamwork.
