Agaoglu

The Agaoglu project was initiated to find a permanent solution to the water leakage problem that arose due to the expired service life of the waterproofing layer beneath the existing ceramic coating, spread over an area of 6000 square meters. The aim of the project was to prevent water from damaging the structure by providing fast and effective insulation without disrupting the existing structure, and to offer a long-lasting solution. Accordingly, the selected materials and application methods were critical to the success of the project. First, the existing ceramic surface had to be prepared. A diamond-tipped light grinding machine was used to remove the gloss from the ceramic and roughen the surface. This process would allow the applied epoxy primer to adhere better to the surface. Subsequently, the detected broken and damaged ceramics were meticulously repaired with special filling materials. The complete smoothness and robustness of the surface were of great importance for the homogeneity of the insulation. After the surface preparation was completed, the epoxy primer application was started. The epoxy primer increased the durability of the insulation by creating a strong bond between the ceramic surface and the polyurea, and also provided a smooth surface by filling the micro-cracks on the surface. With the drying of the epoxy primer, the application of 2 mm thick pure polyurea, which forms the basis of the insulation, was started. Pure polyurea was an ideal choice for this project due to its high elasticity, fast curing property and waterproof structure. Since polyurea is applied by spraying, it can easily adapt to even the most complex geometries and provides seamless insulation without joints. Finally, aliphatic paint was applied to protect the polyurea surface against UV rays and to provide an aesthetic appearance. Aliphatic paint is a coating material with high UV resistance, color stability and scratch resistance. In this way, the insulation would maintain its initial performance for many years and would also meet aesthetic expectations. The project was successfully completed thanks to the high-quality materials used and the expert team, and the water leakage problem was permanently resolved.
