Water Tank Insulation

Water tank insulation is a critical application to ensure the safety and longevity of water tanks, especially drinking water tanks, as well as industrial and agricultural water tanks. Polyurea is a high-performance elastomer used for insulation and protection purposes in water tanks. It can be applied much faster than traditional insulation methods and creates a seamless, monolithic coating, eliminating the risk of water leakage. Polyurea's rapid curing property allows the tank to be put into service quickly. Its high chemical resistance does not affect the quality of the stored water and is not affected by the chemical effects of the water. Thanks to its UV resistance, it maintains its performance for many years even on external surfaces exposed to sunlight. Its high resistance to abrasion and impacts protects the tank against mechanical damage. Polyurea coatings contribute to the preservation of water quality by providing hygienic and cleanable surfaces. Thanks to its excellent adhesion to different surfaces, it can be safely used on concrete, steel or other surfaces. It maintains its elasticity even at temperatures between -40Β°C and +100Β°C, absorbing stresses caused by thermal expansions. Polyurea applications must be carried out in accordance with international standards (e.g., required certifications for drinking water contact). During application, attention should be paid to surface preparation and application should be carried out with a high-pressure polyurea machine with a minimum thickness of 2 mm. With proper application, polyurea extends the life of the water tank and ensures the safe storage of water.

Completed Water Tank Insulation

After water tank insulation with polyurea, the inner surface of the tank is completely covered to provide waterproofing. The smooth and hygienic surface preserves water quality.

Benefits

Long-lasting Protection

Polyurea coating protects your water tank against corrosion, chemicals and abrasion for many years.

Water Quality Protection

Polyurea guarantees the quality and safety of the water by preventing contamination of the stored water.

Cost Savings

Thanks to its low maintenance costs and long life, it provides significant cost savings in the long run.

Fast Application

Thanks to its fast curing property, your water tank is ready for use in a short time.

Water Tank Coated with Polyurea

Polyurea coating provides a long-lasting solution by protecting the water tank against environmental effects. Seamless application eliminates the risk of leakage.

Application Process

1

Surface Preparation

The tank surface must be cleaned of dirt, rust, oil and other foreign substances. Concrete surfaces should be roughened with diamond-tipped concrete grinding machines and the weak concrete layer on the surface should be removed. Steel surfaces should be brought to SA 2.5 standard by sandblasting or rasping. Ensure that the surface is clean, dry and sound.

2

Primer Application

After the surface preparation is completed, a primer suitable for the surface is applied. Solvent-free epoxy primer or polyurethane primer can be used for concrete surfaces. Epoxy-based anti-corrosion primer should be preferred for steel surfaces. The primer allows the polyurea to adhere better to the surface and increases corrosion resistance.

3

Polyurea Application

Using a high-pressure polyurea machine, the polyurea material is sprayed onto the surface. The application temperature should be between 60-85 degrees. The application should be done in a homogeneous and seamless manner with a minimum thickness of 2mm. Corners and joints should be specially reinforced with care.

4

Quality Control and Testing

After the polyurea application is completed, the thickness, surface smoothness and adhesion properties of the coating are checked. If necessary, the water tightness of the coating is confirmed by performing a water leakage test. The application must comply with the specified standards and technical specifications.

Application Process Summary

Professional polyurea application in water tank insulation includes proper surface preparation, correct primer selection, homogeneous application with a high-pressure machine, and meticulous quality control processes. A minimum thickness of 2mm is targeted.
